About

About Hey Johns Island

Hey Johns Island is a free weekly newsletter and website covering Johns Island, South Carolina. It comes out everyThursday and covers road projects, development, new businesses, events and practical answers for people who live here or are thinking about it.

Why it exists

Johns Island is growing fast, and news about it is scattered across county and city agencies, the state DOT, Charleston-wide outlets and a dozen Facebook groups. We pull the island-specific parts together each week, write them plainly, and link to where each fact came from.

Editorial standards

  • Sources first. We prefer primary sources: agency project pages, public meeting agendas, official notices and the businesses themselves. We link them so you can check our work.
  • Dated facts. Every guide shows when it was last updated and when its facts were last checked.
  • No rumors. If we can't confirm something, we say so or leave it out.
  • Sponsors don't buy coverage. Paid placements are always labeled "Sponsored" and never affect what we report.
  • How we use AI. We use software, including AI tools, to help gather public information and draft summaries. A person checks every fact against its source before anything is published.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the bottom of the page saying what changed and when. To report an error, email [email protected].
